Transdev launch new mobile ticketing payments solution with Corethree

Forward thinking Transdev has signed up to Corethree's m-ticketing service to provide mobile ticketing using Barclays Pingit 'mobile checkout' payment service, available to the public from Wednesday 13th November.

The 'mobile checkout' payment feature enables travellers to make an instant payment via a 'Pay with Barclays Pingit' button, eradicating the need for the entry of long or large amounts of personal details, and is available to all UK bank account holders.

Passengers purchasing tickets in the Lancashire Bus region will be first Transdev passengers to access the Corethree m-ticketing service, which is set to dramatically reduce the operators ticketing overheads, speed up ticket purchases, reduce boarding times and increase passenger usage.

The m-ticketing service will be available on the Mainline, Starship, Lancashire United, the Lancashire Way and Hyndburn Connect services, as part of the Lancashire Bus region serving Manchester, Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Bolton and the surrounding area.

The solution follows Transdev's recent launch of its new Witch Way fleet which includes 15 state of the art vehicles with free wi-fi on-board as part of a £3m investment in the X43 route.

Nigel Eggleton, Sales and Marketing Director at Transdev said,

"We are very excited to be deploying Corethree's award winning m-ticketing solution with Barclays Pingit mobile payment solution. This combined partnership will offer passengers a simple and trusted mobile solution that is available to all.

Our m-ticketing solution will create cost savings which will be used to improve our services and keep ticketing prices low. In addition, real-time data will provide passenger insight allowing Transdev to offer new ticketing solutions relevant to passenger needs."

The m-ticketing service will be available via iPhone and Android devices on any mobile network, allowing bus passengers to browse, select, purchase and use bus tickets all from the convenience of their own mobile device. The service will also incorporate Corethree's Core Control for real-time ticketing administration and business intelligence.

Corethree's Product Specialist Richard Stevenson said,

"Transdev's new partnership with Barclays and Corethree will offer a totally frictionless payment solution for passengers making the process of purchasing bus tickets simple, trusted and convenient. Purchasing a ticket will happen in a matter of seconds using the Lancashire bus m-ticketing app, which we have already seen greatly improves customer satisfaction and the user experience."

Mike Walters, Head of UK Corporate Payments at Barclays commented,

"Consumers want quick and easy payment solutions today, that are both convenient and secure and through our partnership with Corethree we're able to offer Transdev passengers the possibility of doing just that. By exclusively accepting Barclays Pingit, Transdev recognise the importance of offering their customers seamless mobile payment solutions and we're delighted to support their m-commerce ambitions."
