Cardiff Bus, part of Cardiff City Transport Services, has awarded Corethree the contract to provide mobile ticketing on over 200 buses for passengers in Cardiff and the surrounding area. The service will be available via iPhone and Android devices on any mobile network, allowing bus passengers to browse, select and then purchase bus tickets all from the convenience of their own mobile device.
Cardiff Bus plans to launch the solution to coincide with the return of the massive influx of students to the area
Richard Stevenson, Product Specialist for Corethree said,
"Our proven, innovative technology has already been deployed across the country, and we’re delighted Cardiff Bus has chosen Corethree to support their mobile commerce strategy. Benefits of our technology include improved boarding times, as there is no need to give or receive change. In addition, we have seen an increase in passenger satisfaction through the ease and convenience of purchasing a ticket from the passengers mobile device instead of queuing at ticket machines."
Corethree's systems integration and digital commerce platform, Core Engine, has driven a aggresive passenger adoption for bus operations around the UK, with sales tripling every month since January 2013. Ticket volumes have exceeded 1300% growth since the start of the year, passing the £1,000,000 mark in ticket sales during July. Together with analysts Juniper Research projecting that transport ticketing on smartphones is set to itself triple by 2018, Corethree's footprint is on track to deliver unprecedented results across Great Britain.
M-tickets can be purchased using any debit or credit card, and are stored securely in Corethree mobile wallet. Corethree’s m-payment and m-wallet solutions are PCI DSS compliant and Corethree is a Data Protection registered company.
